Caribbean Picnic

Dear Weather,
We had such a great time with you on vacation last month - the upper Midwest clearly agrees with you. I have to say, I totally dig how late you like to stay out on vacation. We had no idea you liked to party like that! And they way you were getting all dressed up and fancy with those sunsets? Damn girl, you should get out of town more often!
Now that we are back to the routine, I was hoping we could get together again and was thinking you might like to come to our next picnic. The theme? Caribbean! I know you love it down there - I mean, who doesn't!! With a little jerk chicken, rice and peas and maybe some coconut bread, it will be downright tropical. I'm even making some rum punch. Just so you can kick off the weekend a little early, you know what I mean? Thursday is the new Friday, I hear.
Before we get to that, though, I wanted to talk to you about something. Nothing too serious, but I'm getting the feeling that you are not being straight with me about the future. For one thing, everyone I talk to says something different about you. The Weather Channel is showing a very optimistic 5-day forecast with Thursday being the highlight. Yet, my phone says something a little more vague. And then there's my mom. According to her, the two of you are very close and she is certain there is going to be some kind of "severe weather event" this week. I mean, she does err on the side of hyperbole, but after our last picnic I just don't know who to believe anymore.
All I'm saying is that with a little rum punch on Thursday, everything should be cool, right? Just let me know if you have other plans. Oh, and about the Indian picnic we are planning the week after? You are totally right, there is no such date as Thursday, July 22nd. It's the 24th! Thanks for pointing that out. See you in a couple of days!

Dear Weather:
First of all, I have to thank you for your delightful presence at our picnic last week. I think you really took the Caribbean them to heart! With your low humidity, balmy breezes and the rum punch, It wasn't just like St. Maarten (French side) it was BETTER! Perhaps that's not possible, but either way, your outfit totally went with the food. By the way, did you get any of that flan? Or those piña colada cupcakes? To die for!
Seriously? Okay, I get it. It's hard to be sunny and cheerful all the time (and in all fairness you seem to be pretty happy this summer), but you also seem to have a thing about Thursdays. You know what? I'm not going to push it. No begging, pleading or cajoling this time. Instead, we are going to work around your schedule and plan a couple of great picnics for August. Not sure of the dates yet, but perhaps you and I can confer and come up with something that works for both of us. Cool?
